A few weeks ago it was my pleasure to document the wonderful wedding of my friend Eve and her now husband Simon. The venue was the lovely Chilli Barn up on the Chevin, near Otley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales near Leeds. I was really excited to shoot at the Chilli Barn as the next door Cheerful Chilli restaurant is a favourite of mine due to the amazing veggie food they serve.
The day was a fabulous chilled out affair, early threats of rain gave way to blue skies just in time for Eve's arrival and all went perfectly. It has got to rank as one of the most dog friendly weddings that I have been to. We had just the one elderly border collie at my own wedding but Eve and Simon had a good gang of sighthounds, and other doggie pals there. Their own hound the beautiful Fiadh had the starring role and took it all in her stride.
Eve and Simon had decorated the venue themselves with some beautiful decorations hand made by family and friends. This was topped off with some great local, seasonal (and sustainable flowers).
After all the very relaxed formalities and some great veggie food it was time for live music. A complete diversion from any usual wedding covers band, or dodgy DJ, was the incredibly colourful, and talented, Robin Sunflower who Eve and Simon had gotten to know and convinced him to leave his usual Manchester base and cross the pennies for a brilliant eclectic gig in Yorkshire. I have never seen such harmonica playing!
It really was good fun to capture Eve and Simon's day, met some lovely people in the family and friends and was really honoured to be part of the day.
